Message from Committee Chairman
The following message was sent to the Troop 89 Newsletter mailing list on February 18, 2020:
Please see the following statement from Mr. Lybrand in response to the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing by the national Boy Scouts of America organization, based in Irving, Texas.
While the national Boy Scouts of America is facing some severe issues, Medfield’s Troop 89 is very fortunate to be a healthy organization, filled with great Scouts, parents and adult volunteers. In addition, we’re grateful for all the support we receive from Medfield, especially during our annual Christmas Tree pickup drive.
Youth safety is critical for Troop 89 and all of our adult volunteers, who help manage the Troop and the Scouts, are required to undergo youth protection training.
In addition, Troop 89 is self-funded through its very successful annual Christmas Tree pickup service, so we're hopeful the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing by the national Boy Scouts of America organization has little impact on us.
Troop 89 just completed a very successful ski trip to Maine. We have other campouts planned this school year, including one to the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, in April.
