Order of the Arrow

Troop 89 is part of Tisquantum Lodge 249, in Ktemaque Chapter. We have an active lodge and I highly recommend you run for election in the OA!

If you are a member of the Order of the Arrow, our chapter, Ktemaque Chapter, has a chapter meeting coming up on Tuesday, March 6th, 2007 at the Foxboro American Legion (8 Mechanic St., Foxboro).  The theme will be “Ceremonies and Drums.”  The meeting will start at 7:30pm and end at 9:00pm and refreshments will be served!  For more information, refer to the chapter’s section of the lodge website.

I also wanted to remind all members of the Order of the Arrow to consider attending our lodge’s Spring Fellowship Weekend in April.  This event is different from other OA events because it is about having fun and hanging out with other members of our lodge rather than doing hours upon hours of service.  In fact, there is only one hour of service the whole weekend!  For some reason, the Fellowship Weekends are usually the least attended lodge functions of the year.  Out of 1,361 Arrowmen in our lodge, only about 150 attended last year’s.  I am hoping that this year will be different and you can help!  Like I said, this event is about fun and there will be plenty of opportunities for that from the moment you arrive on Friday to the closing ceremonies on Sunday.  There will be a theme party and various games all relating to this year’s theme, “Pirates,” so don’t forget your pirate outfits!  Be sure to read the two attachments (Fellowship Flyer and Fellowship Letter) for more information.

This Year’s Theme: “Pirates”

Dates & Times: Check-in begins at 5:00pm on Friday, April 20th, 2007 at Camp Squanto in Plymouth, MA. The weekend will conclude at 11:00am on Sunday, April 22nd, 2007.

Attire: Class-A required for a few events, pirate costumes recommended for the theme party, and the rest of the time, whatever you feel like.

Cost: $20 per Arrowman (Checks made payable to: Old Colony Council, BSA)

Registration Deadline: April 13th, 2007

Lastly, I would like to mention the Section Conclave, which will be in June. This event is much like the lodge Fellowship Weekend, but it is help by the section.  This means that there will be Arrowmen from nine lodges located in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.  There is an article, as well as the registration form, in the newsletter. A couple of the main events for the weekend include a carnival with attractions and a live performance, Pow Wow, and the Section Chief Election.  The lodge is offering a special deal for this weekend!  The Section’s fee is $27 per Arrowman, but if you register before March 1st, 2007, Tisquantum Lodge will pay $10 for you!  So, register early and the cost is only $17!

The weekend will conclude at 10:30am on Sunday, June 10th, 2007.

Attire: Class-A required for the whole weekend (excluding American Indian Activities and physical activities on Saturday afternoon).

Cost: $17 if you register before March 1st, 2007
$27 if you register after March 1st, 2007
