Gaming Campout

Hale Reservation January 21-22, 2006

TRIP INFORMATION AND EQUIPMENT LIST

Once again Troop 89 will hold its popular electronic gaming campout.  On most trips, Troop 89’s policy toward electronic equipment has always been: “leave it at home”, but this trip is the sole exception to the rule: “bring it along”!

We will camp in tents at Hale Reservation.  We will spend the day on Saturday outdoors doing Patrol Games and other traditional scouting activities.  Then, we will have an evening of gaming in the Trading Post cabin at Hale.  The type and number of games and who will bring what will be coordinated at the planning meeting on January 12.  If you miss the planning meeting, talk to your patrol leader about what to bring and what not to bring.

Sign-up deadline:  Troop meeting Thursday, January 12.

Fee: $15 payable Thursday, January 12.

Departure:  Saturday, January 21, 8:00AM, Scout Shed, Legion Hall (Assistant Patrol Leaders and Grubmasters – be there at 7:30AM)

Pick Up: Sunday, January 22, 10:30AM, Scout Shed, Legion Hall

Weather and Preparation:

All Scouts must be prepared for very cold weather.  We will be camping in tents and the temperatures could get into the single digits at night.  Ill-prepared scouts will have to be sent home for their own safety.   Remember what you have learned about cold weather camping:  dress in layers, wool or other materials such as polypropylene are better than cotton, remove sweaty or wet clothing and change into dry clothing prior to bedding down, bring changes of dry warm clothing, cover exposed skin, and if you get cold, take immediate corrective action. Following is a checklist of what to bring.

Any questions, please call Mr. Lester.
