December 2005

GENERAL NOTES:

  • There is a new section on the Troop website for classified ads.  Check it before you buy new equipment since a Scout may be selling something they have outgrown or no longer use.  If you want to post an ad, please contact the Troop webmaster.

REMINDERS:

·         We need adult volunteers!

o        We need some adults to help on Advancement nights to do Boards of Review.  During a Board of Review, a few adults ask the Scout questions that are appropriate for the rank they are just completing.

o        Mrs. Schwartz is looking for an assistant to help with the Courts of Honor, especially helping to set-up and provide other assistance on the actual day.   In the short term, she needs help on December 22 and January 15, even if on a one-time basis.

o        For either of these opportunities, please speak to Mr. Schwartz, XXX-XXXX.

·         We are always looking for additional Assistant Scoutmasters – please speak to Mr. Schaub, XXX-XXXX, if interested.

COURT OF HONOR (December 22)

Our last meeting of the year will be a Court of Honor.  Patrols are responsible for bringing refreshments.  If you have not heard from your patrol leader by early next week, please call them and ask what you are assigned to bring.

ORDER OF THE ARROW BANQUET (January 2)

All Order of the Arrow members, please support Mike Shea and Matt Keleher when they are installed as Lodge Chief and Secretary, respectively.  If you have misplaced your OA newsletter, contact either of them for information.  Sign up deadline is December 23.

CHRISTMAS TREE DRIVE (January 7, 14)

Coordinator: Mr. Dave Thole, XXX-XXXX.

The Christmas Tree Drive is upon us again. This is our one BIG fundraiser that supports the troop for the whole year!  We need drivers with Class 3 hitches and/or trucks to help on January 7 and/or January 14.  Every parent who has a pick-up truck or hitch helps the Troop make a bigger profit, instead of our paying U-Haul. Please call Mr. Thole if you can help by driving one of those days.  If you want to help during the collections, but don’t have a truck/hitch, that is also welcome.  Thanks!

EAGLE COURT OF HONOR (January 15, 2pm, St. Edward)

Please reserve this date to recognize M. K., N. M., and K. S. for their achievements.

Payment deadline: January 26
