Electronic Campout

Hale Reservation January 17-18, 2004

TRIP INFORMATION AND EQUIPMENT LIST

This is Troop 89’s first every electronic campout. What is an electronic campout? We aren’t sure yet but we will know when we finish.  Troop 89’s policy toward electronic equipment has always been: “leave it at home”, but this trip is the sole exception to the rule: “bring it along”!  We are planning several hours of electronic gaming late Saturday in our cabin at Hale.  Although we will camp in tents and spend considerable time outdoors doing traditional scouting activities, we will have time available for electronic gaming. The type and number of games and who will bring what will be coordinated at the planning meeting. If you miss the planning meeting, talk to your patrol leader about what to bring and what not to bring. Regardless of the electronics, bring warm clothing for outdoor activies and camping.

Fees: $15 payable Thursay, January 8.

Departure:  Saturday, January 17, 8:00AM, Scout Shed, Legion Hall

Pick Up: Sunday, January 18, 11:30AM, Scout Shed, Legion Hall

Weather and Preparation:

The weather is going to be cold. We will be camping in tents and the temperatures could get into the single digits at night. While this is a heat wave compared to Groton Wood last year, these temperatures are dangerous! Ill-prepared scouts will have to be sent home for their own safety.   Remember what you have learned about cold weather camping:  dress in layers, remove sweaty or wet clothing prior to bedding down, bring changes of dry warm, dry cloths, cover exposed skin, and if you get cold, take immediate corrective action. I have attached a checklist to provide guidance on what to bring.

Any questions, please call Mr Gilliland 359-XXXX.
