PHILMONT 2004 (July 14-28)

Coordinator: Mr. Jerry Bowling, Assistant Scoutmaster 242- XXXX.

Next payment due to Council on September 15th.

The 2003 Council trip traveled to Philmont with two empty spaces.  Even though all the slots were full on the initial offering, there were not enough people on the waiting list to fill all the slots created by cancellations.  If you are still interested in Philmont and missed the initial sign up you can still reserve a place on the waiting list by sending your name and a fully refundable (if you do not go) $50 check to Council.  The coordinator at council for Philmont is Myron Rusk.  Just make your check out to The Boy Scouts of America.

SEABASE 2004 (22-28 August)

Coordinator: Mr. Jerry Bowling, Assistant Scoutmaster 242- XXXX

For those already signed up, the next payment of $250 is due mid November.  I am still working on the transportation to Miami or Ft Lauderdale so I can not quote a final cost yet.

There is still one spot left in the 8 person crew for Coral Reef  Sailing.  The first person to sign up and give Joe Shea $100 gets this spot.  The initial crew for the Florida Keys Adventure filled up and I had three people on the waiting list.  We are in luck - Seabase is allowing us to add another crew for this activity.  This means 5 more scouts can go.  Again, the first 5 who sign up and give Joe $100 get the slots.  Both of these high adventure events are a guaranteed fun time.  The age requirement is 13 by the departure date, so many of our scouts are eligible.  Give this a good  look on the website (bsaseabase.org) and then give me a call.

Last comment about the cost, again this year Troop 89 will hold several fund raising efforts to help participants reduce the personal cost of  Philmont and Seabase.  A list of events and dates will be published soon.  One activity already scheduled is supporting Medfield Day.  If you are going on a High Adventure crew, you can benefit from signing up for Medfield Day.  Mr. Rahn is coordinating this event.
